Introduction

A widespread neotropical species. Larvae feed on Croton (Euphorbiaceae) and Caesaria ramiflora (Flacourtiaceae) (Neild, 1996).

Characteristics

Sexually dimorphic adults. Females have hindwing "tails," while these are reduced to a small denticle in males. Outer portion of dorsal forewing is dark with a transverse orange band in both sexes. Ventral wing surfaces strongly resemble a dead leaf (see photo).
