Introduction
The genus Danis occurs in New Guinea and surrounding islands, as well as northernmost Australia. More widespread taxa formerly included in Danis are now separated into the genus Psychonotis. According to Parsons (1999), members of both genera are distasteful and engage in mimicry with one another and other New Guinea lycaenids.
