Rhyzodiastes (Temoana)
Ross T. BellThis tree diagram shows the relationships between several groups of organisms.
The root of the current tree connects the organisms featured in this tree to their containing group and the rest of the Tree of Life. The basal branching point in the tree represents the ancestor of the other groups in the tree. This ancestor diversified over time into several descendent subgroups, which are represented as internal nodes and terminal taxa to the right.
You can click on the root to travel down the Tree of Life all the way to the root of all Life, and you can click on the names of descendent subgroups to travel up the Tree of Life all the way to individual species.

close boxIntroduction
Temoana is by far the largest subgenus with 29 species ranging from the Caroline Islands, the Solomon Islands, and Australia westward to eastern India and the Anadaman Islands and north to Taiwan.
Characteristics
The antenna has an apical stylet (minute in some species) and tufts of minor setae on antennal segments IV-X or V-X. Clypeal setae are present. The compound eye is narrow and crescentic. The genae are glabrous below the eyes. The inner carina of the pronotum is sloped gradually to the paramedian groove. In most species, pollinosity is limited to the border between the paramedian groove and the outer carina (it is more extensive in R. pollinosus). The outer carina is not greatly broadened at the middle. Intercalary stria are absent. Most species have elytral striae that are impunctate to very finely punctate (R. sulcicollis is an exception).
